Sorry to break it to you, but - brace yourself - professional wrestling is a work. And just like any scripted form of serialized entertainment, the best examples of wrestling involve long, drawn-out stories that are planned well in advance. These storylines and character arcs are called angles.
Angles can develop over the course of a single night, or stretch across years. Most wrestling promotions have several different angles going on at any given time, and individual wrestlers may be involved in multiple angles concurrently.
