What a glorious day for renewal, and a glorious St. Patrick's Day to you.
You're in luck, because while it doesn't come as much of a surprise, NBC has opted to renew all of its most successful comedies for additional seasons, including 30 Rock, Parks and Recreation, Community, and The Office.
No word yet on other Thursday night renewals for comedies Outsourced and Perfect Couples, or even other NBC series (come on, Chuck!) but given their current ratings and the host of other NBC pilots ordered for next season, renewal may not be in the cards.
NBC Charmain Bob Greenblatt had to say of the good news:
"I am so pleased to renew these three outstanding comedies which are all at the top of their game creatively. They represent the best of what the NBC comedy brand stands for in terms of originality, wit, and sophistication. The Office continues to fire on all cylinders on the most competitive night of television; Parks & Recreation has come into its own this season as the rightful companion to The Office; and Community is one of the freshest comedies on any network and a solid foundation for Thursday night."
Community and Parks will be entering their third seasons, while The Office continues into its eighth following the departure of Steve Carell's Michael Scott, who has already shot his final episodes.
And what of his replacement? Well don't count your chickens yet, but IGN learned from Ricky Gervais' interview on BBC Radio's The Chris Moyles Show that the comedian will make at least one more appearance as his UK Office character David Brent! Could Wernham-Hogg really take over Dunder-Mifflin?!
Great news, right? What NBC shows are you most excited to see return, or perhaps not?! COUGH, The Cape. Send us a memo below with your thoughts!
