Moira's Death

Well, that explains Moira's sexy shape-shifting skills (say that three times fast!) as well as her dead eye when she's "old Moira." Yup, during Episode 3, "The Murder House," viewers witnessed the death of Moria at the hands of a blinded-with-rage Constance who catches her former husband basically raping the housekeeper. No one ever blamed Constance for being level-headed.

The Rubber Man Returns

Lest you assumed (like we all did) that The Rubber Man was more of a lover (quite possibly impregnating Vivien with some sort of demon spawn that makes nurses pass out) and not a fighter, Episode 4, "Halloween, Part 1," showed that he's a violent force to be reckoned with, brutally killing the house's most recent residents Chad (Zachary Quinto) and Patrick (Teddy Sears). Meanwhile, the episode was left on a cliffhanger when he appeared standing next to Violet, who later goes missing.

The Backyard Grave

When Ben's mistress, Hayden, shows up at his home office and informs him that not only is she keeping her baby, but forcing him to play a significant role in the child's upbringing, Ben reluctantly accepts his sad fate and offers to take Hayden out to eat. As they're leaving, Hayden comes face-to-face with crazy burn victim Larry Harvey, who winds up killing her with a shovel. Offering to get rid of her body for $1000, Larry buries her in the backyard, and discovers someone had the same idea when he finds human remains and baby clothes buried in the dirt.

Charles & Nora Montgomery

Now all those creepy babies in the show's opening make sense! During episode 3, we meet that house's very first residents, Charles and Nora Montgomery, an affluent couple from Philadelphia who move to Los Angeles, only to succumb to drugs and madness. Charles, who must deal with Nora's constant berating, develops a Frankenstein obsession, experimenting on pigs and other animals while high on Laudanum in the basement. With the two in dire financial ruin, Nora urges Charles to open a secret, illegal abortion clinic for aspiring actresses, which leads to even more trouble as we'll see later on...

Nora's Visit

Vivien, determined to get herself and what remains of her quickly-shattering family away from their new home, puts the house back up for sale. Soon thereafter, a potential buyer shows up asking to see the place and it's revealed that she's actually the ghost of Nora Montgomery, complete with a massive head wound. After mysteriously disappearing when she's offended by the modern conveniences in the kitchen, Nora later re-appears sitting next to Vivien while she's fast asleep in her bed.
