The Basement

Much like the tried and true saying "nothing good happens after midnight," the same holds true for the basement of the Harmon family's new home. Along with formerly housing what can only be described as a mad scientist's lab (seen just before destructive twins Troy and Bryan get their just desserts), there seems to be some sort of horrible creature living rent-free down there as well. We've only caught glimpse of it so far, but clearly, that's a face only Aphex Twin could love.

Moira

As if a creepy old lady showing up out of nowhere and basically hiring herself as the Harmon's housekeeper wasn't eerie enough, apparently, Moira has a way with the fellas. Gross, right? Well, seen through the eyes of Ben (Dylan McDermott) Old Moira takes on a ridiculously hot (and sexually insatiable) appearance. It's unclear what, exactly, Moira is (a witch? a ghost? some other kind of nightmarish creature?) but during a conversation with Constance (Jessica Lange) it seems she has quite a history of husband stealing.

Larry Harvey

Apparently, burn victim Larry here never got the memo on how to properly introduce himself to new friends—peeping on someone pleasuring themselves in the privacy of their own home or lurching after them while they're jogging in a wooded area is usually a really bad way to make a first impression. But when you have terminal brain cancer—as Larry morbidly likes to point out a bit too often between hysterical laugher and uncontrollable sobbing—and nothing to lose after burning your entire family alive in the Harmon house, social norms and manners take a backseat to flat-out crazy.

The Hidden Paintings

Viewers haven't really had a chance to get a good look at the wall art that was mysteriously covered up by wallpaper prior to the Harmon's moving in, but from the brief glimpses seen so far, there seems to be very good reason why they were covered up in the first place—unless crudely rendered scenes from Dante's "Paradise Lost" are your idea of modern interior design.

Adeline

The Harmon's next door neighbor seems to have a strange fixation with the mansion, beginning at a very early age when she warned Bryan and Troy that they'd regret their decision to go in for some Droogish behavior (and they really should've listened). She's since snuck in numerous times at unacceptable hours of the night and day, cryptically warning the new home owners of their impending fate and playing with the creature(s) in the basement.
