As filming for season five of Showtime's Dexter gets underway, news of more new castmembers -- and an old, familiar face -- have been announced, namely Maria Doyle Kennedy (The Tudors) and a guest appearance by Julie Benz (who fans know and love as Rita.)
Hot on the heels of announcements regarding Julia Stiles and Shawn Hatosy joining up with Dex and the crew, these latest announcements -- which come to us via press release -- gives some hints as to what fans can expect from Kennedy's character, who will be playing "an Irish nanny hired to care for Dexter's son Harrison after Rita's death in the [fourth] season finale."
And speaking of Rita, Showtime has confirmed that we will see her return, albeit only once and in the season five premiere episode, stating, "as Dexter grapples with the reality of the death of his wife, her presence will help him deal with his feelings of loss and grief -- emotions he's never felt before."
