The Cast of LOST: It's Over, Now What?

LOST is over and the Oceanic survivors and Entertainment Weekly coverboys and girls are now back to being regular ole' unemployed actors. So what's next? Celebrity Survivor?  Headlining comic book conventions?

Jorge Garcia

815 Pre-Boarding: Anyone watch Becker?  Yea, that was Hurley, errr Jorge.  Despite the allure of a chain smoking Ted Danson, it was Garcia's spot on Curb Your Enthusiam that got Darlton's attention.

Now What?: So what's Jorge Garcia's crucial next move now that LOST is over?  Starring in a movie called When We Were Pirates with Rae Dawn Chong.  Talk about a flashback!  I'm suddenly overwhelmed with visions of breakdancers, rocket launchers, Arnold Schwarznegger painted in camo and C. Thomas Howell in black face.  Make it stop!

"Everybody Loves Hugo:" As the most recognizable of the LOSTies, people are going to be yelling "it's that fat guy from LOST" at Garcia for as long as Richard Alpert lives.  However, the good news is this guy would make an absolute killing in the autograph alley at any comic-con.  With a background in stand-up comedy, I'd like to see Garcia go back to his comedic roots.   Funny fat dudes are all the rage in Hollywood these days.  I have a feeling Garcia could show Seth Rogan and Jonah Hill how it's done.

Evangeline Lilly

815 Pre-Boarding: Evie (LOST fans aren't ones for formalities) was just a small-town Canuck with a heart of gold (she did missionary work prior to LOST) and the looks to make desperate single guys sitting at home on a Saturday night call a chat line.  Hey, you never know.  Maybe in some alternate universe, smokin' hot Canadian chicks are actually on the other end of those phone lines.

Now What?: Evangeline Lilly has stated that she plans to be very selective about any post-LOST gigs she takes.  In fact, Freckles would prefer to act as a "day job" while devoting most of her energy towards more humanitarian pursuits than running around the jungles of Hawaii with Josh Holloway and a gun tucked in her pants.

What Kate Should Do: With the cache starring in a show like LOST affords her, Lilly certainly can be choosy about her next career move.  As one of the more media shy members of the LOST cast, Evie probably isn't the right fit for mainstream Hollywood but could become the next indie film darling.  Or she could star in a quirky CBS sitcom opposite Nathan Fillion called Canadians Can't Do Taco Night.

LOST - Terry O'Quinn

Terry O'Quinn

815 Pre-Boarding: Terry O'Quinn first got the attention of sci-fi fans as a favorite of the 90's answer to J.J Abrams, Chris Carter, appearing on The X-Files, Harsh Realm and Millenium.  O'Quinn also etched out a creepy nook for himself with horror fans, in the titular role in the first two Stepfather flicks.

Now What?: O'Quinn made a wise move, passing on an offer to appear in last year's Stepfather remake.  Unable to seperate from his old Island nemisis, Ben, O'Quinn has allegedly pitched a series in which he and Michael Emerson play middle-aged men living in suburbia.  The working title is "It's Always Sunny in New Otherton."

Don't Tell Me What I Can Do: Easily one of the greatest talents in LOST's six-season history, O'Quinn is ready for his close-up on the big screen, in something a little more nuanced than a campy cult horror flick or a frat house homage.  J.J. Abrams is clearly a fan, having worked with O'Quinn way back in the Alias era and we know he's got a few things cookin'.  John Locke may have to eat his words about Kirk being "a piss-poor captain."

LOST - Naveen Andrews

Naveen Andrews

815 Pre-Boarding: Englishman Naveen Andrews has appeared in numerous British television series and movies but stateside, his biggest role prior to LOST was opposite Ralph Fiennes in The English Patient.

Now What?: No word yet on what Naveen Andrews has planned now that he's off the Island but playing with Dave Navarro's all-star band, Camp Freddy, dealing with baby momma drama and Barbara Hershey will probably be enough to keep him busy.

"He's Our You:" Sayid Jarrah was such a stone faced badass, it's easy to imagine Andrews getting typecast in crappy action movies with Jason Statham.  I'd like to see the soft-spoken actor get back in touch with his sensitive side.  Perhaps another sweeping period romance?  No, scratch that.  Three words.  Red. Shoe. Diaries!  Someone get Zalman King on the phone so we can reboot this erotic nineties masterpiece with Andrews stepping in for David Duchovny.  We'll just need to ammend the series' original intro: "Red Shoes' seeking women to mail in their personal diaries with stories of love, passion and/or betrayal...also if you spent three years on a magical electromagnetically charged island, that helps."

LOST - Daniel Dae Kim

Yunjin Kim

815 Pre-Boarding: A star of Korean cinema and television, Kim is best known for her work "across the sea."

Now What?: Despite crossing over in a big way, Kim is returning to her roots, with several Korean language films lined up.

The (Sun) down low: One of the many notes of praise heaped upon LOST regards its diverse ensemble cast.  While we probably won't see anything like it anytime soon, if ever again, I'm hoping some of the series' breakout stars like Kim, won't fade into obscurity.  Gorgeous, talented and capable of kicking ass (Kim has trained in the martial arts and stage combat), I'd love to see her in a big screen adapatation of Shoko Tendo's Yakuza Moon: Memoirs of a Gangster's Daughter.
