Airbender Animals We Want In The Last Airbender: Legend of Korra

The first time we watched Avatar: The Last Airbender, the appearance of the platypus bear and Aang's frantic introduction provided the most ridiculous hybrid animal yet, instantly endearing us to the concept. As such, we hope this Avatar animal receives his proper due from The Last Airbender: Legend of Korra, even if the series takes on a more modernized and serious tone.

The bearded cat never received much explanation during Aang's infiltration of the Earth Kingdom, so here's hoping this Avatar animal makes it into The Last Airbender: Legend of Korra with some more explanation. After all, the way species from Avatar: The Last Airbender evolve, that cat's bound to have a full ZZ Top by now.

Unfortunately, we spent far too little time with Sokka's Fire Nation carrier hawk messenger, a real pity given the bird's apparent intelligence in understanding its owners. With technology and communications improved in the decades leading up to The Last Airbender: Legend of Korra, might we finally see the Dragon Hawks in their hopefully intended positions of gouging enemy eyes out with fiery talons?

The giant behemoths may find themselves easily chased off by the more carnivorous fish of Kyoshi Island, but few other beasts allow riders to graciously sail along their fins as Aang did. 

Now that bending has become much more common and accepted in Korra's time, how about watching an army of Waterbenders leading the charge atop their Elephant Koi, perhaps even bigger over time? This will only be possible, however, if these Avatar animals make it into The Last Airbender: Legend of Korra.
