Big Money Brawlas: Insane Clown Posse Talks Wrestling

Wrestling and ICP go together like a buttery fromage and a vintage bordeux so it was only natural that our resident wrestling fanatic and editor-in-chief, Chris Radtke, talk turnbuckles and top rope with Violent J and Shaggy 2 Dope.

Clowning Is Like Wrestling

Radtke:  "You guys have your own wrestling league. I love pro wrestling. Do you guys follow wrestling?"

Violent J: "Like a mad man."

Radtke: "What do you like and what do you dislike with what’s happening in wrestling right now?"

Violent J:
"ICP is very much like wrestling. Wrestling has characters, wrestling has gimmicks and I believe the music industry is very much like pro wrestling. I believe every band or every rapper out there has a gimmick. They have gimmicks that are related to them, ways that they want people to perceive them just like wrestlers.

"For example, Jake the Snake, that’s his product and that’s what he sells. He sells the "Jake the Snake" character and that’s what bands do. They sell who they are.

"Even bands who don’t want to have a gimmick, such as Pearl Jam for example, that is their gimmick. They’re like we don’t have a gimmick, we’re not commercial, we’re not coporate...we are Pearl Jam. That is their gimmick. Their gimmick is to be the guys that are not commercial.

"My point is everyone has a gimmick and we take that to the maximum. We paint our face, we’re the Insane Clown Posse, we are showmen and we were taught that from the world of wrestling."
