Freaks and Geeks - Disco & Dragons
Okay, now the rest of the world is finally coming around to recognizing what a comedic genius Judd Apatow is, but we've been riding that particular train for almost a decade. With his legendary 1999 NBC show Freaks and Geeks, Apatow turned his all-seeing lens on a group of high school students going through changes in rural Michigan at the start of the 1980s. Over the show's paltry 18 episodes, we could have picked any number of amazing moments, but for us the show's final episode offers two for the price of one. First, the scene with Daniel Desario roped into playing Dungeons & Dragons with the geek squad lifts our nerdy hearts with song and proves that D&D is for everybody, dammit. And second, when Nick Andopolis has the most awkward teenage ex-girlfriend conversation of all time with Lindsay and then busts the most fantastic disco dance of all time. What a show, people.
