Futurama's Best Robots

From Bender to David Duchovny, Futurama's best robots are known across the sci-fi universe, and their cold hearts never stop warming ours.

Futurama's sixth season finale "Reincarnation" airs tonight on Comedy Central, making us feel like the past eight episodes have gone by in a flash of warp speed! Last week's "Overclockwise" focused on our best Futurama robot bender, whereas tonight re-imagines the Planet Express crew in Max Fleischer, 8-bit video games, and even anime.

But even with "Reincarnation"'s crazy new animation styles, it's all about the Best Futurama robots! With their ultra-durable exteriors and cold mighty logic, the robots practically rule the surface of New New York while making our 31st century that much more weird and wonderful. Some represent unnecessarily elaborate iterations of simple tasks (cough, Bender!), while others prove invaluable to the fabric of the future and perform our every demand!

Think about it! Even trash cans have their own distinct personalities, and why would a greeting card need its own set of legs?! Futurama's best robots make us laugh and marvel at their mighty technology, pausing only to bite their shiny metal asses if we don't agree.

So of Futurama's best robots, who are your favorites? Do you buy into the unholy acting talent of Calculon, or marvel at the boxy simplicity of Moon babe The Crushinator? Could any robot really be greater than Bender Bending Rodriguez himself? Maybe all this talk of Futurama's best robots has you jonesing for some delicious, nutricious alcohol!

We want to hear what you think! Check out our picks for Futurama's Best Robots below, then build a set of your own choices to tell us about in the comments section below!

Gypsy Bot

We're not too Big to admit that oddly-appearing Gypsy bot has the fortune of being one of the best Futurama robots, even if her competence lies in question. We've seen her both helpful enough to identify Bender as a were-car, and scheming enough to pretend she channels him from outer space, so who knows?

Don't worry about that nasty head injury from "Ghosts in the Machine," either. We can rebuild her.

Tinny Tim

We have to think that Tinny Tim was deliberately built without working legs rather than constantly need the crutch welded to his arm.  Then again, he could easily have been manufactured for the ill-fated all-robot A Christmas Carol of 2997!

Either way, Tinny Tim chimes in as one of the best Futurama robots due to his good spirits, and Bender's inevitably kicking him over.

Kwanzaa-Bot

What's cooler than cool? Coolio, of course! The famed rapper lends his voice to the bot representing one third of Futurama's holiday trinity, and one of Futurama's best robots. So even if you have no idea what the hell Kwanzaa is, you'll be glad to hear its principles rapped out by the same dangerous mind behind "Gangsta's Paradise!"

Now if they can get Weird Al's voice for a robot, we'll have the perfect collaboration track!

Dr. Perceptron

Even though he appears to be nothing more than a cheap plasma ball with an attached pen and clipboard, Dr. Perceptron maintains the high level of intelligence necessary to run the HAL Institute for Criminally Insane Robots. Who else could have figured out such soothing relaxation techniques as electric shocks, pounding hammers to the brain or a combination of sirens, axes, spiders and rats!

Not that we wish the worst on any of our characters or favorite robots, but we can't wait to see who comes up with the next insane treatment, Zoidberg or Dr. Perceptron!

Reverend Lionel Preacherbot

We'll ignore the already ill-conceived robot sexes and the further ill-conceived idea of constructing actual robot Hell and Heavens to base a religion off of, particularly when it gives us the inspired theatrics of the Reverend Lionel Preacherbot. Lionel offers up one of the best Futurama robots given that we like our preachers down to Earth, and we've seen the good Preacherbot engage in countless acts of debauchery, including Gearotica and his own robosexuality.
