The good news is that if you're a J.J. Abrams, sci-fi or a fan of the Deschanel sisters, Fox is your go-to network this Fall! The bad news...is everything else.
Deadline reports a few select pickups from Fox's upfront presentation, as well as a slew of cancellations including Human Target, Lie to Me, The Chicago Code, and newcomer comedies Breaking In and Traffic Light. With the exception of Fringe and Raising Hope, the network killed nearly its entire roster of "on-the-bubble" programming.
On the positive side however is Fox's four pickups, including the time-travelling J.J. Abrams sci-fi drama Alcatraz, which stars LOST's Jorge Garcia and Jurassic Park's Sam Neill, and had been rumored to be on Fox's list of shows to pass on.
Other fresh faces for the fall will be Zooey Deschanel sitcom The New Girl (along with sister Emily Deschanel of Bones putting both siblings on the network), Jaime Pressly's I Hate My Daughter, and Bones spin-off Finder. The official announcement of Fox's 2011-2012 roster, which also includes sci-fi epic Terra Nova, Glee, and recently renewed dramas Fringe and House will arrive on Monday, May 16th
Entertainment weekly also reports that Fox has decided to pass on graphic novel adaptation Locke & Key, executive produced by Star Trek's Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci, and written by Josh Friedman (Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles). However, the series may still find a pickup on another network.
Tough day to be on the Fox network, but they've always been a bit of a tough sell. What say you? Are you sad to see Human Target and Lie to Me go? Will you tune in for Alcatraz and Fox's other new series! Give us your best pitch in the comments below!
