3D TV Shows We Want to Watch

With all the out-of-this-universe sci-fi we see splashed across Fringe on a weekly basis, we're amazed FOX hasn't already attempted to make this a 3D TV show. 

Just imagine any one of Walter's experiments (or drug trips, for that matter) playing out across your living room. But that's not even counting how less campy 3D effects could do wonders for increasing the scope of the series, and drawing us into its other-worldly feel.

It's a little tough to make a 3D TV show our of a 2D animated series that often integrates computer-generated effects, but what would you give to see the Planet Express ship cruising through the three-dimensional streets of New New York? With a highly satirical series such as Futurama, even such simple fare as watching Bender's extenso-matic arms grab another beer from across the room would be great.

All the campy science-fiction our favorite futurists offer on a weekly basis would offer the perfect 3D outing, in both exercise and parody.

Believe it or not, turning True Blood into a 3D TV show is well under way, as they have already shot a sequence from its fourth season in 3D, at the request of HBO. The only question that remains to be seen is which. According to series creator Alan Ball,

"We just did it as an experiment, because I don't know if they're going to want to take the show 3D at some point. Maybe, like, a season premiere or a season finale or something. I would be surprised if, depending on how long the show lasts, that doesn't happen at some point. Especially if 3D technology gets beyond having to wear the glasses."

"It was basically a scene that's in the show anyway, so they just also shot it with 3D cameras. They sort of blocked it so it would lend itself to that. There was a lot of stuff in the foreground, stuff in the background, that kind of thing. I really don't believe it was tremendously difficult. If I can remember correctly I believe that the director and the cinematographer did a little seminar with the 3D camera people before we did it, and they sort of said this is what works best."

We have a feeling it's not going to be the Anna Paquin topless scenes we've all been dreaming about, but we're intrigued nonetheless. Bring on the blood spatter!

Between bullets whizzing by, Maggie Q diving around corners and Shane West's gruff scowling, turning Nikita into a 3D TV show might be just what Division's doctor ordered to spark some interest in the re-made spy series about to enter its second season Friday nights on The CW.

Action series with 3D episodes are a no brainer, but personally we'd be more interested in seeing some of Nikita's more eye-popping outfits do some popping of their own.
