The 3D TV show may be the next frontier in home entertainment. The trend of 3D may be wavering in movies, but if technology manages to make worthwhile 3D TV an easily accessible home convenience, what's to stop families and individuals alike from easily slapping on a pair of glasses and watching their favorite TV shows splashing through their living rooms? Or, if technology like that found in the Nintendo 3DS can be perfected, would we need the glasses at all?
We've already seen plenty of TV shows experimenting with the 3D format, and even major TV shows like Glee have made the leap to theaters with the release of Glee: The 3D Concert Movie. Some series are said to already be experimenting with 3D TV, as we've heard rumblings that True Blood has already filmed sequences at the request of HBO!
Could you imagine all of Anna Paquin's gratuitous blood and sex, or even the icy plains of Game of Thrones' Westeros, in eye-popping 3D? How would the landscape of our favorite science fiction shows change if suddenly we found ourselves immersed in the other-worldly action?
Since the dawn of Avatar, we've seen plenty of ways directors can inventively utilize 3D to truly draw us in another world rather than divert attention to a cheap gimmick. So, with all the boobs, blood and bullets bouncing around our TV these days, we can't help but dream of how 3D TV shows would add all-new levels of awesome to our favorite programs.
