Peter Griffin: Dad of the Year
Peter Griffin made his first appearance in a 15-minute short that aired on Fox on December 20, 1998 -- and now, 13 years later, he shows no signs of ever going away. Here we've compiled a series of videos featuring the patriarch of Family Guy doing what he does worst: being a father.

He's worked at a toy factory and at a brewery but, above all, Peter Griffin's most important and life-defining job is being a father to Meg, Chris and baby Stewie. It's a job he's not very good at, but he's managed to pull it off for over a decade -- and those kids don't seem like they're every going to go off to college (or, in the case of Stewie, off to even kindergarten). Being a parent is hard enough -- being a parent when you're stuck in a floating timeline is even harder. Here are Family Guy clips featuring Peter as the father we're all glad we never had.

Peter's been under the influence of a variety of illegal substances over the many seasons of Family Guy, from crack cocaine to acid to crystal meth and back again. Well, we suppose it's better if Dad does it and not any of the kids...

Peter's reaction (multiple, rapid-fire reactions, actually) to Red Bull is pretty much spot-on; it does make you feel like you're in a Madonna video. And the final "milk the cow" gag is... well, see for yourself. Shudder (or is it "udder?")!
|
Peter's X-inspired shenanigans on the couch with Stewie and Brian are funny enough, but the real comedic brilliance comes when he slides down to the floor and decides to do away with those clothes that are messing with his vibe. Don't try this with Dad, kids.
|
No one can take a hit from Peter quite like his daughter, Meg. Meg is the human punching bag of Family Guy, both emotionally and physically -- but mostly physically.
|
Did we say that Meg mostly takes physical hits on Family Guy? We take that back... this girl is headed straight for a place with padded walls, straight jackets and electroshock therapy -- and nothing will do any good in trying to fix the damage that Daddy's done over the years.
