Cartoon Urban Legends

This one all depends on how bad you want it to be true. At one point in The Lion King, Simba plops down and knocks some dust into the sky. As the dust dances and drifts away it supposedly spells the word "sex" for a brief moment.

Perhaps this was done on purpose, but if so it's insanely subtle. The dust cloud does look a bit like the word if you're looking for it. But it could also be a number of other things. Like dust swirling through the air, for instance. Regardless, this one remains, as it probably always will, inconclusive.

It sounds like a joke, but it's true. Pokemon can give you seizures.

When if first aired in Japan, season one Pokemon episode, "Electric Soldier Porygon" was so flashy and bright that it actually sent 685 viewers to the hospital with complaints of headaches, nausea, and seizures. The event became known as "Pokemon Shock." The show went on a four month hiatus afterward, and the episode in question has never been rebroadcast.

It wasn't until 1999 that Disney finally discovered their 1977 mouse film The Rescuers featured a tiny bit of snuck-in background nudity. Once they realized this, 3.4 million copies of the film had to be recalled at great cost.

The nudity occurs about 38 minutes into the film when the lead mice are flying through the city in a sardine can. As they quicky pass by a number of apartment windows, sharp-eyed viewers can see a topless woman pictured in one of them. Who ever planted this joke in the film had to wait over twenty years for vindication, but it must have been pretty sweet all the same.

It's a strange thing to be sexually attracted to a cartoon, as any fella who watches Who Framed Roger Rabbit? can attest. She may not be real, but it's all too easy to understand how animators behind Jessica Rabbit couldn't resist just a frame or two of nudity.

The story goes that when Bob Hoskins and Jessica Rabbit are thrown from Benny the Cab, animators purposefully failed to add Jessica's underwear for a couple frames as her dress flies up. It may just be a coloring mistake, but the frames in question are no longer visible in current versions of the film. Laserdisc owners with frame-by-frame capabilities, however, have identified and spread the image in question. All that's left now is for amateur Internet sleuths to examine the image for hours upon hours.
