Rock bands find interesting ways to advertise their product nowadays, and the Smashing Pumpkins certainly scored a slam dunk with a short clip that has appeared on YouTube.

To promote their upcoming "album within an album," Oceania (which is to be part of the group's already-in-progress 44 song album, Teargarden by Kaleidyscope), one of professional basketball's all-time great players, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar offers his support of the band.

As previously reported, the band recently filmed a video for the tune "Owata," which will premiere today (Wednesday, June 29th) at 9pm PT/midnight ET via Yahoo! The clip features several renowned professional wrestlers (head Pumpkin Billy Corgan is quite the jock nowadays, eh?), including Cheerleader Melissa, Shelly Martinez and Raven.

Mr. Corgan offered the following update regarding the video clip (via his Twitter account) - "...first cut is 12 min long, like a short film. Second cut will be music video only! Good fun."
