Singer/songwriter Matt Nathanson recently issued his seventh studio effort, Modern Love, and was man enough to go forth with a Short-But-Sweet Interview. On your mark, get set, go!

UGO:  How rocking is Modern Love?

MATT NATHANSON:  On a scale of 1-10...maybe a 5? I mean, if Slayer is 10, and Tracy Chapman is 1, then yeah, I'd say 5.

UGO:  Who are your main musical influences?

MATT NATHANSON:  For me, U2 is the ultimate band. 4 VERY human dudes, who have the capacity to consistently create transcendent shit. They just bust ass, and are fearless. That's my type of role model! So them, and probably, the first 4 Def Leppard records.

UGO:  Are you unafraid to show your sensitive side in your music?

MATT NATHANSON:  I don't think so, no.

UGO:  Did you ever write a song so sensitive that you started crying when you first sang it?

MATT NATHANSON:  No...but there have definitely been times where I've been moved to tears playing OTHER peoples songs. Springsteen has the ability to that to me. So do the mountain goats.

UGO:  Do you think the same amount of media coverage would have been brought upon former US Representative Anthony Weiner and his "sexting scandal" if his last name wasn't Weiner?

MATT NATHANSON:  I'm not sure about that... but did you SEE the shot of that guy in his underpants? Seriously...it looked like he had a Buick parked in there. Jesus. If I had a penis like that, I'd probably be sending it to everyone too.
