Paul Furfari: Is there a scene in the movie that's your
favorite?
John Cena: My favorite doesn't even involve me. I'm
completely enamored with the transformation of my younger brother (Devon Graye)
because it was genuine. If you've met Devon, he's not an athletic kid, but
extremely educated, very well spoken, a little nervous and skittish at times,
but really became a certified bad ass. He did real well and he went from not
knowing what a wrestling mat was to really being able to move around out there
and really hold his own with some other competitive kids. So it was really cool
to see him on screen grow up, but the transformation happened off screen as
well.
Paul Furfari: What were the training session scenes really
like?
John Cena: They were legitimate. It shows [Devon]
becoming more experienced. It was genuine. He really didn't know an athletic
stance, didn't know how to balance his weight and shift accordingly. So that's amateur
wrestling or football or any sport.
Paul Furfari: What is the next movie for you?
John Cena: Believe it or not it will start filming
October first and it's called Blood
Brothers. It's more drama, very small amount of action, but it's about three
brothers that absolutely hate each other that have to coexist and form a family
business.
Once again, I'm very happy with the script and the
read. I actually passed on a few projects because I don't want to...I'm not at a
level yet with my acting to attach myself to something that I don't feel real
comfortable with. I can't make that magic happen just yet. I read the script
and the brother aspect of it really drew me in. I won't be the main character,
I'll be in another supporting role, but I'm very excited to get this one
underway.
