The notion of having a robot that can walk, talk and think for itself sounds cool at first, but then we realize what a bad idea it truly is. When it comes to killing, robots outmatch us by a large margin, as many movies have done a great job illustrating. Robot Maria

Silent films are always a bit creepy, so when one features an evil robot, it already has a leg-up in the terrifying department. Metropolis' Robot Maria stands as both a famous movie robot design and a classic movie monster. Maria is actually less scary in her metal form. Later when she looks just like regular Maria, she's much more horrifying due to her weird, jerky, J-Horror body movements. Metropolis is an awesome, scary film, so it only makes sense that it also have an awesome, scary robot.
