Best Mockbusters

They are called "mockbusters" and they love to prey on people like your grandparents and others who can't tell the difference between Iron Man and Metal Man.

Not everyone can afford to make a blockbuster. Those take lots of money, connections, time and effort. It's far easier to cash in on the release of a blockbuster by releasing a nigh-identical film and hoping that confused people will pick it up instead of the movie it rips off. Check out a few of these ripoffs, and know to stay well away when you see them at your local video shop.

The Day The Earth Stopped

I can't tell which is worse, this or the Keanu Reeves garbage that actually got a major release and lots of funding. I'm gonna say they're about even. Both are based on the classic 1951 film about an alien who comes to Earth with a warning to mankind, and both completely missed the essence of the original. Basically, if you don't want to watch Keanu monotone in an umpteenth movie, just go for this instead.

One more thing: is this not the best-narrated trailer of all time?
