Are you confused by flat parts? For centrifugal barrel finishing, flat parts like washers are a challenge. Because the parts stick to the barrel's side, they can wick together and stick to it. Only one side is deburred. Glass bead blasting media can be added to the centrifugal barrel finish process. The beads cover the parts and make them unable to stick to each other or the barrel. For parts that are prone to cup together, glass beads work well.
No matter the number of steps involved, each step should be done independently. This means that you can't do deburring and polishing at the same moment. Instead, first deburr, then polish. If more than one step are needed, the steps must all be done in ascending ordinal order of smoothness.
Centrifugal barrel finishing systems are industry workhorses and are used with many types of metals, including brass, aluminum, steel, stainless steel, chrome, and titanium. Note that this type of system does not deburr plastic parts, because plastic is too pliable for this process.
