| The Soap Box
Derby is a youth racing program for boys and girls ages 7- 17. This is
a unique program in that it encourages close parent-child activities while
building and racing the car. The construction of the gravity race car
reinforces the importance of setting and completing goals while developing
traits such as self-confidence, perseverance, and craftsmanship. Parents
can learn new abilities while teaching children the proper use of tools.
The youth is encouraged to do as much of the work as their level permits. |

The Stock Division is for racers age 7-13 years old and designed to give the first-time builder a learning experience. These kits assist the derby novice by providing step-by-step layout for construction of a basic lean forward style race car. Stock Cars can accommodate a racer up to (approx.) 5’3” tall and 125 lbs. The Stock Car, is sold as a kit, which includes everything needed for racing with the exception of Z-Glas Racing Wheels and weights. Because painting is not permitted on the Stock Car shell, drivers have their choice of purchasing colored shells. Traditional colors include red, white, and blue. Occasionally there are a limited edition of additional colors which have included, yellow, black, pink, and green in the past. Builders should allow 6 hours to assemble their Stock Division Car. Contact your local race city organization or race director about purchasing a kit from them or order your car kit online at www.aasbd.com |
