However, pools, unlike gardens or yards, are easily neglected and become less useful over time. You can bring them back to health with a few simple steps. Pool resurfacing, a necessary maintenance treatment for pools, should be done at least every eighteen years.

Unfortunately, gelcoat pool applications are a factory process and cannot be reproduced in your backyard. Instead, there are replacement coatings--thermoplastic polymers that are used to resurface fiberglass. Before the new coating is applied, the pool must be fully drained.
