Windows Monitoring Agent Installation

Release Candidate and General Availability Agents

We normally provide two version of the Monitoring Agent from the Dashboard:

Release Candidate (RC) : Extensive testing goes into each Release Candidate before it is made available for download but users should be aware that there may be minor bugs.
General Availability (GA) : The latest production Agent release.

Agent Installation Options

The Agent is installed in one of three ways:

Manual Installation: download the Agent from the Dashboard and run the installation wizard on each device
Site Installation Packages: deploy the Agent via Group Policy or create a one-click Remote Worker installer then send the package to the user to self-deploy. A Remote Worker download is also available through the Add Device option of the Graphical Dashboard.
Monitoring Agent Push: push a Monitoring Agent to an unmonitored device when it is discovered as part of an Network Discovery scan

To ensure Check and Automated Task consistency across the monitored devices (as well as reduce installation time) Agents may be deployed using Dashboard configured Monitoring Templates.

The Agent Settings are configured post-installation from the Dashboard or in the Agent console, available from the device's Start menu.

Available Checks

The Windows Monitoring Agents runs Checks based on two frequencies. Constantly running 24x7 Checks and once-per-day Daily Safety Checks.

- 24x7 Checks can be set to run every 5, 15, 30, 60 and 120 minutes.
Daily Safety Checks run on the configured hour. Prior to the release of Windows Agent 10.9.8 both servers and workstations used the same default setting, 06:00. From Windows Agent 10.9.8 the defaults were changed to 06:00 for servers and 10:00 for workstations. This change allows workstations to update their antivirus definition files and perform other tasks before running the Checks.

			* The Failed Login Check replaced the Hacker Check from Agent 9.7.2
Checks marked with a plus (+) are automatically added where supported (and the monitored product is installed) and a Monitoring Template is not selected. During a manual installation these Checks may be applied by choosing Standard Checks from the Agent's Installation Template option.
