Post My Pet Hates on FPS Gaming :S

I love my FPS gaming. I love playing my Battlefield or Call Of Duty (C.O.D. for short) and I'm sure you guys do too. But there's one thing that really gets my Goat and it's when I start to play online.

I meet the same kinds of people Online and experience similar nightmares too on a typical online shooter. So, I will take you through my all time Pet hates;

1. Migrating Hosts. Now this could be due to connection problems or some kid that got annoyed that his game wasn't going his way. He leaves the chat room right in the middle of the game and it interrupts gameplay.

2. Connection Failures and lag. Lag just slows everything down when you put together groups of people using different bandwidths running on different speeds. Maybe one day in the far future we will see web and telephone companies actually stop competing for the fastest bandwidth and actually come together allowing for everyone to run on the same server at the same speed, allowing for an even playing field for all.

Connection failures just simply annoy, you could be getting the best killstreaks out there on C.O.D, only for the connection failure icon to come up (An animated Chord being pulled out of telephone socket) and then your game starts all over again, wiping out your score, killstreaks and any rewards you earned during your gameplay.

3. Online Wannabe DJ's - Yeah, you know the type. They play their music loud coming out of their Hi Fi system, the bass blaring. It's usually hip Hop or Heavy Rock playing. It's off putting. My rant to those that do this runs along the lines of 'If you want to be a DJ, fine, go to your local youth center, have a tryout at a local club.

If you take your FPS gaming seriously and you want to focus on the competition, don't play your music here, because the music that you like, won't necessarily be the music everyone else likes on your team, or the opposing team also.

4. Spawn killing - These are cowardly players that will sit and wait at the area of which you spawn at and usually Melee or shoot you without warning. There is no challenge in this and these players lose out on the whole spirit of an FPS game.

Random spawns seen on Battlefield aren't any help either, as for the most part, the game can spawn its player nose to nose against an oncoming enemy tank.

5. Cheating - AimBot & Other Hacks - Lets start with the Aimbot. This controversal hack program is a type of computer game bot used in first-person shooter games to provide varying levels of target assistance to the player. It's is sometimes incorporated as a feature of a game (where it is usually called "auto-aim" or "aiming assist"). However, making the aim-bot more powerful in multiplayer games is considered cheating.

Some aimbots can do all of the aiming and shooting, requiring the user to move into a position where members of the opposing team are visible; this level of automation usually makes it difficult to hide an aimbot—for example, the player might make inhumanly fast turns that always end with his or her crosshairs targeting an opponent's head. Some games have anti cheat measures to combat this, but it still Happens..Annoying, If i can sense that this is going on, I back out of that game right away.

Wall Hacks - A program that shows enemy players silhouettes in bright colors through walls and all types of materials. Wallhacks are often coupled with aimbots to get even more kills. It is more dangerous and difficult to stop when wallhacks are used alone. As long as the player doesn’t make it incredibly obvious that they have an wall hack by getting a huge amount of kills with bullet penetration, they can claim they just got lucky or they saw knew the enemy thanks to a UAV. Yeah RIGHT.. Backing out of that game!

6. Unnecessary amounts of airstrikes, napalm strikes.
This applies mainly when playing C.O.D. where my team and I are under constant killstreak armegeddon, some of the bigger Killstreaks (Napalm Strike, Airstrike, Mortar) take 7 Kills to activate and the opposing team demonstrate they can do this in maybe 3 kills or less. They can do this fine, but can they go one on one with a Rifle?..No. Another reason to back out, Unfair advantage.

7. Taunting and verbal abuse Bullying. I run into so many games where I will find obviously younger players on an 18 rated game usually rowdy or just plain RUDE while on Mic. They like the attention, they are all talk, they will pick on members on my team. I'm all in for the spirit of competition but taunting friends is not really the way to go. During gameplay there is always the thug that keeps chasing you and constantly meleeing you in the back, he laughs out loud during the final Killcam . (A feature of the game which replays the highest scoring player's last Kill of the game) Muting the idiot and backing out of game..AGAIN..

8. The game places you in a foreign team. On some FPS games, (Especially in Europe) will sometimes place you into a group of which you cannot understand a WORD of which they are saying. Unless a translate option can be incorporated, there is little hope in terms of teamwork. Au Revoir..Backing out.AGAIN! Grrr.

8. Inappropriate team Names - Names such as BIN LADEN or RAPE for a name of a Team are obviously going to offend, For Infinity Ward and Treyarch, as well as EA (For battlefield) they really need to look into censoring tools to avoid bad press and outcry from parents (And this is before their next games MW3 and Battlefield 3 arrive!)

Clearly, changes need to be made for us to have a clear and enjoyable FPS experience. But one things for sure. With these types of players and experiences you can be sure we will be avoiding and backing out of games avoiding headaches and loss of sanity, for some time to come..

Or how about the ppl that ask you to tell them the "secret" to improving their rd. level so you spend 15 or 20 min. giving them some tips and then they go and ignore every 1 of them so they can show you how they've managed to not get past level 15 on COD zombies? They throw in for free their top-secret secrets "how to get all your team-mates killed." and this gem "How to never, ever, ever, ever, never, ever, buy a door."
