Gravatars are Globally Recognized Avatars; it is what we here at HSM use to display our author images, as well as for those who comment. How does it work? It's quite simple, really:

  • First, go to http://www.gravatar.com
  • For those of you who have already registered an account with HSM/WordPress, you don't even have to create a new one; just use the same sign in (meaning same email address and ID, too) you'd use for HSM. If you haven't registered an account here at HSM, or with WordPress, you will have to create one, and you can do it here, or at Gravatar's site.
  • Once you've received your confirmation email (check your junk mail to make sure it didn't fall through the cracks!), you simply click on the link it contains and from there you can start uploading images of yourself - be it the real you, or the Home you. Make sure you set the rating to G!

I had actually created a Gravatar a while back and had uploaded a photo for my profile: http://en.gravatar.com/tbaby84 There is a problem there too, it seems that for G-rated sites, the photo is some default image with a "G" in in it while the photo I uploaded appears to be available only for sites rated PG and above? I don't see a way to change the "G" rated image for my gravatar. Furthermore, I am not sure how to link my gravatar to HSM site. My login for HSM is tbaby and for gravar.com and for wordpress.com, its tbaby84. idk how these 2 can be associated with each other? if these are supposed to be the same, maybe that is the problem idk.

I figured out the problem. My email address for my gravatar is the same as the one for my HSM login, but for some reason, the lowest rating for my gravatar image was PG and so I guess the HSM site is rated G. I figured out how to change the rating from G to PG so that the image would show up on sites and now it works! YAYS! Now yall can see my pic with me rockin my Mavs jersey lol
