In fact, Quake II makes the purchase of a mouse a worthwhile decision. Multiplayer games excel, even with tedious split screens. Ubisoft developed the Dunia Engine specifically for Far Cry 2. Among other things, the Dunia Engine delivers realistic, interactive environments, special effects, real-time night-and-day cycles, and smart enemy AI.
Expansive, Realistic Environment
Far Cry 2 is set in a fictional region of Africa where you are caught between two rival factions at war. The Ubisoft team spent a lot of time filming and photographing in Africa to get all the details of the landscape and native wildlife. The result is a huge gameplay area that is 50 square kilometers, taking players into and out of the jungle and savannah. Wild animals such as zebras, buffalo, gazelle are encountered during the game, with both players and enemies allowed to interact with them.
Far Cry 2 features an incredible level of detail and realism, with a minimal in-game interface to detract from immersion. For example, players will need to navigate the world using an in-game map and navigation system, weapons will disintegrate over time, and fires will spread and propagate.
Each of the actions a player takes is reflected in the environment and changes the content of the game. To fulfill your mission, you need to play the enemies against each other, using both strategy and skill.
Huge Range of Weapons and Vehicles
Far Cry 2 offers gamers a wide range of weapons, from a machete for hand-to-hand combat, to a sniper rifle that can stealthily pluck off enemies from afar. As weapons disintegrate over time, they might jam or even explode in your hand.
There are also a large range of vehicles such as gliders, trucks, cars, and boats that will let you fly, drive, slide, and hover over the open landscapes.
Multiplayer Options for up to 16 Players
Far Cry 2 supports up to 16 players and has four gameplay modes: Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Capture the Diamond, and Uprising. Players can choose from six different classes in multiplayer, each with its own set of pros and cons. Just as in the single-player mode, multiplayer games will feature dynamic elements, making each session unique.

Weapons also abound, and now these items can be hurled around, even from the floor to the ring, where they're likely to hit a clueless opponent. A story mode adds tremendous replay value to this one, giving players the option of turning good or bad, with a variety of consequences that are based on that decision.
As stated, the game plays just like Wrestlemania 2000—meaning the same degree of slowdown and questionable artificial intelligence. The slowdown particularly hampers the game when many wrestlers take the ring at once; it seems that this title pushes the Nintendo 64 to the limit, as far as on-screen action goes.
But the game's good points more than outweigh its bad, and, all told, No Mercy will satisfy wrestling fans who are looking for a taste of their favorite male melodrama. —Robb Guido

In career mode, players slam their way toward the championship. Other game options include single match, tag team, triangle, four-way dance, and battle royal.Road Rash 64 NintendoRoad Rash is a game series that's been around since the Sega Genesis, but this is its first incarnation on the Nintendo 64. For its part, THQ has done a smashing job of bringing the brawling motorcycle game into the world of 3-D.
The game lacks much visual detail, but that lack allows a frame rate that never slows down, even when 10 or more bikers are on the road, hacking at each other and vying for the pole position. Like its ancestors, Road Rash 64 presents two goals—winning road races, and abusing other riders, including cops in pursuit. The crashes are spectacular. Sparks fly as bikes scrape along the pavement, and riders perform aerial acrobatics as they fly off their hogs. Text messages also appear onscreen to notify players of who caused whom to crash—a nice touch that is reminiscent of online multiplayer PC games.
The game has two major classes of motorcycles: cruisers that are durable and fast on straightaways, and sport bikes that are aerodynamic and nimble around turns. As players progress through a one-player game, they will be invited to join one of two bike-centric gangs, supplying relative immunity from their brethren during gameplay—unless you hit one of them first!
The multiplayer mode offers a number of different options, including lap races, death match, tag, and pedestrian hunting. While the single-player game is pure adrenaline fun, Road Rash 64 with four players is an experience not to be missed.
In addition to thrilling sound effects, Road Rash 64 has some very noisy, and very appropriate, musical accompaniment from real recording artists such as Sugar Ray and the Mermen. —Jeff Young

Diablo was and is one of the great PC role-playing games, and this PlayStation port holds true to the original. Along the way you gain a lot of cool magical artifacts, weapons, and equipment. These mystical tools define your character as much as or more than the obligatory character stats such as strength, dexterity, and stamina.
The game's only flaws are due to its translation to the PlayStation. The controls can be difficult, especially with ranged weapons, and the two-player mode throws both characters on the same screen, often making it problematic to negotiate the various rooms of any given level.
Complaints aside, Diablo is a solid hack and slash adventure game. You'd be either a fool or a coward to pass it up. —John Cocking
