At the bottom of each of these files,
you will see whether or not a printed version of that book is available.
Eventually most of my Internet Books will become printed and bound books.
The most popular ones will appear in print first.
But they will continue to be available free-of-charge to all Internet readers.
And most chapters will be updated at least once per year.
Happy reading!

James Leonard Park

THE PHILOSOPHY BEHIND INTERNET BOOKS

Internet Books are a new phenomenon in publishing.
Instead of depending on a commercial publishing industry
to approve or accept books that will sell well,
individual creative authors are empowered to share their ideas with the world
at little or no cost either to the author or to the readers.

WHAT IS THE SIZE OF THE INTERNET READERSHIP?

About one-third of all human beings living on the planet Earth
now have Internet access
2.5 billion.
Most of these people can read English.
So about two billion people can read the books listed above.
No other means of sharing ideas has that many potential readers.

HOW WILL INTERNET USERS FIND INTERNET BOOKS?

The World Wide Web is already fully searchable.
And the capacities of search engines will only improve
as the Internet develops in future decades.

Each Internet Book by James Park is divided into separate chapters.
And each chapter has a separate Library of Congress subject heading.
(See the very top line on the screen on which you are reading these words.
The Library of Congress subject is in CAPITALS: "INTERNET (Computer Network)",
followed by further description provided by the author:
"Free Internet Books by James Leonard Park".)
Also the copyright page for each book gives the classifications for that whole book.

    If Internet Books become common,
if other authors decide to share their thoughts in a similar way,
some form of cataloging these free books on the Internet might emerge.
If librarians decide that this is a valid way to share information,
they could add Internet Books to their own databases.
Libraries would not be required to buy either the printed books
nor the electronic rights to these books
because they are already available free-of-charge to anyone with Internet access.
(And of course, most libraries now have computers connected to the Internet.)

Libraries might also buy the printed versions of Internet Books.
In that case, they would definitely include them in their own database of books.
And people who use that library would be able to choose
between reading the book entirely on-line
or borrowing a printed copy from that library

HOW CAN AUTHORS AFFORD TO WRITE BOOKS WITHOUT BEING PAID?

My own answer to this is the Guaranteed Annual Income.
Each citizen of the United States of America
should be supported at a minimum level of income,
probably about $12,000 per year in 2019 dollars.

Right now, the Guaranteed Annual Income is only available to senior citizens.
But it could be extended to all citizens as a part of major tax reform:
Instead of elaborate credits, deductions, & subsidies in the tax code,
each citizen would receive a refundable tax-credit of $12,000 per year.

The way this now works for senior citizens is Supplemental Security Income.
SSI is administered by the Social Security Administration.
After accounting for all forms of income,
including other forms of cash-benefits and income-support,
if the person over 65 does not have enough income to live on,
then SSI brings him or her up to the federal poverty level.

I have enjoyed this support from the taxpayers of the USA
since I turned 65 years of age.
And most of the books listed above as my Internet Books
were in fact created during these years of support from the American taxpayers.
I receive a few hundred dollars each month from the Social Security Administration
no matter how I spend my time each day.

I have chosen a life-style that sees me at my computer almost every day.
I have lots of good ideas to share with the world.
And because of this support from the American taxpayers,
I do not have to give even one moment's thought to earning money.
I write my books and columns to benefit those who choose to read them.

If you are a taxpayer, consider these Internet Books one result of your taxes.
Sometimes your taxes go to very good purposes.
These books are your tax dollars at work.

Also as a matter of historical fact,
most of my Internet Books have no commercial value.
Most major publishers select books
approved by their marketing departments:
If new books are similar enough to books that have already sold well,
then the publisher might be willing to invest some thousands of dollars
to print that book and offer it for sale to the reading public.

Utterly original and creative books have few opportunities.
Accepting my books might be like someone in the music business
taking a chance on a completely new kind of 'music'.
If sounds like these have never been heard before,
how might new 'music' be classified in order to sell it
to people who listen to music and pay for it?

Most of my books are so original
that no other author could have created them.
If I had never been born, these books would never have been written.
This is one criterion I apply to possible projects that might occupy my time:
If I don't do it, will this project ever be done?

Taste around in the several books listed above.
See if you agree that these would not easily fall into any of the categories
used by the book-publishing industry.
But just because theses books were not expected
or easily classified by the established publishing industry
does not mean that you will find nothing worth reading here.
