carry-onbaggage. Substantial
fines canbe imposed for
violations.
Smoking isnot
permitted. Federal law
imposesfinesof $1,000
for smokingandup to
$2,200 for anyattempt
todisableanaircraft’s
smokedetectors.We
prohibit theuseof
electronic simulated
smokingdevices
(cigarettes, pipes, cigars,
etc.) onourflights.

the concoursewill assist youwith information and
aboardingpass andwill alsohelpyou standby for
an earlierUnited flight if one is scheduled. If you
want to travel standby and aren’t boarded, wewill
transfer your name to thenext United flight toyour
destinationuntil you areonboard.
What aboutmybag?Baggage is boardedon the
next flight if space is available, whichmeans your
bagsmay arrivebeforeyou. If so, Unitedwill secure
thebaguntil you claim it. See abaggage claim
representative.
What if I have to stayovernight? If a flight is canceled
to address amechanical issueor a similar issuewithin
our control, wewill provideyouwith ahotel andmeal
voucher. For uncontrollable events—such asweather—
wemaybe able tohelpyou locate a local hotel at a
Travel assistance fordelayedor canceled flights
discounted rate; however, Uniteddoes not cover hotel
ormeal expenses in this event. Ifwe cannot retrieve
your checkedbag, overnight kits containing toiletries
are available. Please see an agent.
What if the reason formy travel no longerexists? If
as a result of thedelayor cancellationyouopt not to
travel, call United reservations (1-800-UNITED-1) to
learn about your options.
