What, you may wonder, goes on the brunch menu at a
Franco-Taiwanese tearoom? Well, the €26 offering includes
unsalted buns, served hot with home-made jams,
omelettes, fruit salad and, of course, lashings of bubble tea
(Taiwanese tea, tapioca and condensed milk). With Yi Lin
Leballeur, a former pastry chef at Guy Savoy – one of the
city’s most celebrated restaurants – in the kitchen, you
know you’re in for a treat in this arty space in the 9th
Arrondissement (there’s now a second branch by Opéra).

From noon to 5pm every Sunday, this
reasonably priced, farm-to-table outpost in
the south-west of the city centre does a
brunch that celebrates local ingredients in
the kind of way only Italians can manage.
With its own vegetable garden, the emphasis
is on the fresh herbs that pop up in dishes
such as spicy sausage with caramelised
onions and white polenta, or gnocchi with
cherry tomatoes, mint and cinnamon.
Brunch at Le 37 m2 is
about as atypical as it gets
– and all the better for it
