it was an impressive
month for silverware at easyJet HQ this month. In addition
to the successes at the ISPY Awards (see p156), easyJet was recognised at the
19th Business Travel Awards, scooping the gong for Best Short-Haul Airline.
The event, which was judged by a panel of senior travel buyers from a wide
range of high-profile international businesses, saw us edge out over other
shortlisted carriers Air France-KLM, CityJet, Finnair and Norwegian.
“What’s particularly significant for us is that this was a unanimous decision,”
UK Head of Sales, Ruth Spratt,
commented. “The judges recognised and
congratulated easyJet for the significant
efforts the airline has undertaken to
develop its offering to business travellers.”

what would you
do if one of your
favourite buildings was threatened with
demolition? easyJet cabin crew Lesley
Mullally had to answer that question
when confronted with the news that the
Futurist building, a former cinema on
Liverpool’s Lime Street, was threatened.
Outraged that the original façade of the
building wasn’t protected and that the
interior has been overrun with pigeons
during 30 years of disuse, she has set
out to protect it. “The Futurist building
is not listed and it is not in a
conservation area, so it really is down to
us, the people, to raise awareness and
make sure it is saved,” she says.
