Anywhere I can party,” says the 27-year-old, a grin on his face as we sit down to talk
in a London hotel room. The sprinter is in town to promote his new book and he’s
clearly got his eye on enjoying himself, now the competing is done for another year.
“After the season, I just want to have fun. I go anywhere I can have a good time.”
In the past, this desire to cut loose has seen him hanging with footballer Didier
Drogba and actor Mickey Rourke in London clubs, enjoying a night out with model
Heidi Klum and actress Sandra Bullock in Los Angeles, and even crowd-surfing at
a Sean Paul gig in Brussels. Some might say he’s developing a playboy reputation,
but the sprinter is quick to counter. “The truth is I don’t go out that much,” he says.
“I won’t go out for, like, a month, but as soon as I go out people are saying, ‘Oh,
Usain was out, blah, blah, blah…’ So I guess I might as well just party anyway.”
Then again, as the most famous track and field athlete on the planet – not to
