JOSEPH, Mo. –No. 7th ranked Missouri Western welcomed Central Oklahoma to Spratt Stadium and continued its undefeated season, defeating the Bronchos 45-23. The Griffons scored twice in the final two minutes of action to improve their record to 5-0 overall and 5-0 in MIAA action. The 5-0 start is the best start under Partridge, they also did it in 2009. The Griffons had 467 yards of total offense with 243 coming on the ground. Hill finished the night with 143 yards on 22 carries and a touchdown while Partridge ran for 50 yards and two touchdowns. Kyle Knox had his best game as a Griffon catching seven passes for 108 yards. 2012 Wendy’s Hall of Fame Game The 2nd time under Partridge that the Griffons opened up the season 5-0 (2009 & 2012). The fourth time that Missouri Western has opened up home action going 4-0 under Partridge (2003-2006-2010-2012). The Griffons went 5-0 or better to start the season five different times in school history. The best start in history was in 1981 when they opened up 7-0. Missouri Western’s defense surrendered first quarter points for the first time in 2012 and the Griffons faced their first deficit of the season after falling behind 3-0 early. The Griffon offense rolled up 466 total yards and the defense gave up 436 yards to the RiverHawks. Michael Hill rushed for 195 yards on 31 carries and rushed for one touchdown. Travis Partridge completed 17 of 28 pass attempts for 229 yards and four touchdowns. Partridge also threw two interceptions, the Griffons’ only two turnovers on the day. Tarrell Downing and Reggie Jordan each hauled in four passes, with Jordan hauling in two TD catches and Downing adding one of his own. Kyle Knox caught three passes for a team-high 71 yards. Ben Pister stood out defensively, collecting six total tackles, with five tackles for loss, a forced fumble, a sack and broke up three passes. Nick Williams led the Griffons with seven solo tackles. Austin Baska added a sack and Dan Ritter collected his first career interception in the fourth quarter to seal the victory. The 1st time under Partridge that the Griffons opened up the season 6-0.
