B R O N C O S football coaching staff Outside Linebackers 1st Year • Fayetteville St., 2005 ™ Theron Jones Calvin Randall III Quarterbacks / Receivers / Recruiting Coordinator 1st Year • WSSU, 2007 ™ Running Backs 1st Year • Virginia State, 2001 ™ Aaron Taylor Theron Jones is entering his fi rst season as Outside Linebacker Coach and Video Coordinator at Fayetteville State and his fi fth season on the collegiate level. Jones is an alumnus of Fayetteville State, earning a Bachelor's Degree in History in 2005. He played football for the Broncos and was part of the 2002 CIAA Championship Team. Jones also has his Masters Degree in Education from Grand Canyon University. He was the Linebackers Coach at Virginia State University for three seasons (2009-12) and coached two CIAA All-Rookie Team members in Byron Gourdine (2009) and Tim Durant (2010). Under Jones, the linebackers improve each year. In his fi rst year they recorded fi ve sacks and improved to15 sacks in year two. In 2011 the linebackers recorded 13 sacks and followed it up with a big year in 2012 with 18. The unit averaged double-digit sacks each season following the 2009 campaign. The defense ranked second in the CIAA in scoring defense (19.40) and pass effi ciency defense (115.12); while fi nishing third in total defense (341.40) and turnover margin (.30). He had three successful years at Hanover High School in Mechanicsville, Virginia. While there the team appeared in back-to-back Central Region Championship games and winning one in 2007. He is a native of Mesic, North Carolina. Calvin Randall III is entering his fi rst season as Quarterback/ Wide Receiver Coaching while also serving as the Recruiting Coordinator for the Fayetteville State football coaching staff. Randall began his coaching career in 2000 as a Student Assistant defensive line coach at Winston-Salem State. During that season, WSSU won the CIAA Championship. In 2001, he began working with the outside linebackers where he was responsible for producing one All-CIAA player and one All- American. After two seasons on the sideline with the Winston-Salem football program, Randall accepted a Graduate Assistant position with Delta State where he coached linebackers during the 2002 season and defensive backs in 2003. In 2003, the Statesmen fi nished the season with a 9-2 overall record and ranked 16th in NCAA Division II. After completing his stint at Delta State, Randall joined the Virginia Union football staff in 2004 as the defensive backs coach. In 2004, the Panthers fi nished the season ranked 11th in total defense in NCAA Division II. In 2005, Randall was promoted to Defensive Coordinator. He moved over to the offensive side of the ball in 2006 and began coaching wide receivers. That season the Panthers ranked second in the CIAA in total offense, second in scoring offense and fourth in passing offense. VUU fi nished the season 7-3 and second in the CIAA Eastern Division. The Panthers fi nished the 2007 season ranked fi rst in the CIAA in total offense, fi rst in passing offense, fi rst in rushing offense, fi rst in scoring offense and fi rst in passing effi ciency. Virginia Union won the CIAA Eastern Division Championship and earned a berth in Pioneer Bowl X in Columbia, South Carolina. Randall was promoted to Offensive Coordinator in 2008. With Randall at the helm, the offense fi nished the 2008 season fi rst in the CIAA for rushing offense and third in total offense. He was promoted to Assistant Head Coach and Wide Receivers Coach following the 2008 campaign. As Assistant Head Coach and Wide Receivers Coach in 2009, Randall assisted in leading the Panthers to a 6-4 record and tied for the CIAA Eastern Division Championship. Regarded by many as a "tireless" recruiter, Randall was instrumental in developing the 2009, 2010 and 2011 recruiting classes. He served as the Recruiting Coordinator from 2011-12. In 2012, Randall was also selected for the NCAA/NFL Coaches Academy held in Dallas, TX. The Tampa, FL native earned his Bachelor's of Arts degree from Winston-Salem State University in 2002. He is currently pursuing his Masters of Education in History Education from Delta State University. Randall is a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Incorporated. Aaron Taylor is entering his fi rst season as the Running Backs coach for the Fayetteville State football program. This season will be Taylor's twelfth season of collegiate coaching after having spent seven seasons (2001-07) on the Hampton University football coaching staff and the last four at Florida A&M. During his tour at Hampton, Taylor served in the various roles having tutored the running backs, tight ends and tackles for three seasons; as well as four years with the defensive line.
