B R O N C O S Athletic administration ™ Dr. Lawanda Miller Asst. AD for Business Affairs Head Cheerleading/ SWA 15th Year • FSU, 1994 Dr. LaWanda D. Miller is a Texas native who joined the Fayetteville teville State family in 1994 and became FSU’s Head Cheerleading di Coach in the spring of 1998. The Bronco cheerleaders of FSU are better known as “Cheer Phi Smoov” and, under the direction of Dr. Miller, have solidifi ed their spot as one of the best squads in the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA). Miller has completed National Cheerleading Safety Certifi cation courses from the American Association of Cheerleading Coaches and Advisors (AACCA) and National Cheerleading Judges Certifi cation courses from Cheer Ltd. She also has two Certifi cates of Award for successfully completing a full complement of courses and training at the National Cheerleading Coaches’ Conference from Cheer Ltd. Dr. Miller is an active member of the CIAA Cheerleading Coaches Association (CCCA) and National Federation of Interscholastic Spirit Coaches Association (NFISA), and the National Council for Pay Equity (NCPE) for women in Washington, DC. Her message to young people is “Attitude is a little thing that makes a BIG difference.” Currently, Dr. Miller serves as the Budget Offi cer for the Chancellor’s Offi ce and Department of Athletics at Fayetteville State University. She holds a doctorate degree in business administration from Argosy University- Sarasota, master’s and bachelor’s degree in business administration from FSU, a BRIDGES academic leadership program certifi cate of completion from UNC-Chapel Hill, and is a graduate of John Casablanca’s Modeling and Career Center in Raleigh, NC. Dr. Miller spends her cheerleading off season mentoring new high school and college coaches, judging middle and high school cheerleading tryouts, attending cheerleading conferences and dance clinics, and hosting summer cheerleading camps. Camelia Blake Asst. AD for Compliance 4th Year • Virginia ™ State, 2009 Camelia Blake was hired in June 2010 as an Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance. She joined Fayetteville State after serving as the Assistant Compliance Director at Chowan University for more than a year. While at Chowan, Blake certifi ed initial, continuing and transfer eligibility for student-athletes and reported on and monitored the academic progress for student-athletes. She also worked with the institution’s athletic department, coaching staffs, student-athletes and prospective student-athletes, providing reports to university administrators. Blake, who has a thorough knowledge of NCAA bylaws, has worked as a liaison between the university and NCAA and CIAA offi cials and has conducted annual NCAA and CIAA eligibility meetings with all studentathletes. Blake is a 2009 graduate of Virginia State University in Petersburg, VA, where she also interned in the athletic department and served in a wide variety of roles. Blake was named to the 2008 All-CIAA Indoor/Outdoor Track and Field team, was the 2008 Indoor 60-meter hurdle champion. She was a member of the 2008 CIAA Cross Country Co-Champions and was nominated for Virginia State Female Student-Athlete of the Year. In 2011, Blake was named Fayetteville State’s advisor to the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
