10.6 Finish a print job and get printer ready to print again

For the Polar3D printer, which has a camera so that the printer dashboard can be used to visually inspect whether a printer appears ready to print again (prior object removed from build plate, and build plate prepared and installed on the printer – see the Polar3D Printer Guide for tips on removing printed objects from the build plate, and if necessary cleaning the build plate, as well as Section 14.4.1 for details on ensuring that the build plate is properly “sticky”) at the end of a print job the printer status will progress through “COMPLETING PRINTING” and FINISHING PRINTING” all the way to “READY TO PRINT”. (But before starting a new print job, do be sure to visually inspect the printer, through the printer dashboard if not physically, in person, lest you start printing on top of a prior printed object!)

OctoPrint controlled printers will also progress from “FINISHING PRINT” to “READY TO PRINT” without manual intervention.

FlashForge printers and DREMEL printers require a physical action at the printer’s control panel to confirm that you are removing the prior object before they will progress from a status of FINISHING PRINTING” to “READY TO PRINT”. For instance, if you have not yet removed the prior object and confirmed doing so at a FlashForger printer’s control panel, it will show a status “CLEAR BUILD PLATE”.
