My father passed away April 2017. He had prepaid his cremation services through National Cremation in Oviedo, Florida many years prior. I met with Stephen Barreto at an appointed time. He had the file in hand, and all of the paperwork ready to start the information gathering process. He kept in constant communication through out the process, and every little special request and detail was in order when I went to pick up my father’s remains. He assisted with the death certificate process, ensured the certificates were sent to me in New Jersey, and provided an overall sense of reassurance that everything would be, and was, taken care of. I highly recommend National Cremation be it Oviedo, or any other location, as the staff was courteous, well trained, and a pleasure to interact with. Thank you so much to Steven Barreto for your kindness, patience, and attention to detail. You made everything perfect.

I have had the unfortunate experience of having to use this service twice now in three years for my parents.  Fortunately,  Neptune and TIFFANY CURA have made the situation tolerable and easy though the grief has made me mentally unavailable.  I will also buy an account for myself with Neptune as soon as I feel a little better to save my family the hardship that comes with the aftereffects of a loved one passing from this Earth.  Thank you, Neptune.

Various service providers charge different rates; established cremation providers or funeral homes may charge more for their services based on a reputation for quality, and larger providers are also able to offer discounts or pricing options that smaller companies can’t always manage. Funeral homes also have to cover the cost of any supplies they use in embalming and preparing bodies for viewing.

Traditional cremation, on the other hand, typically refers to a cremation that includes a memorial service or funeral (body is present). Like direct cremation, the cost for the actual cremation costs will be included but the price you are quoted will also include the memorial service or funeral. It is more difficult to come up with a general cost estimate for a traditional cremation because you have many options when it comes to the type of service you have. For example, if you plan to have a funeral along with the cremation, you may be required to purchase embalming.

Robin Fisher and all the staff at the Oviedo location are consummate professionals who are a credit to their calling. You have taken care of our family for the second time and we cannot press our thanks adequately. Most of my family members are signed up with national Cremation secure in the knowledge that when our time comes they will take care of our families. Mike

My father had a massive stroke while on vacation in California. With one phone call, he was taken care of, delivered back to a local funeral home in Brevard County, Florida. We were kept in the loop every step of the way. 5 years later my mother passed at home. The central Florida office came to the house and took care of everything. They removed my mothers jewelry, which I hadn’t even thought of, and took my mother away. Before leaving, he asked me if there were any questions. He stayed and answered all my questions. And, again, they kept… Read More

How do you want your body to spend eternity? In space, mingling with the stars? Or perhaps as part of a sparkling diamond on someone’s finger? Or, if you’re looking for something more lively, maybe even nestled among colorful underwater creatures as an artificial coral reef bank? These are just a few of the things people are doing with the cremated remains of their loved ones.

To help protect you from overspending on funeral costs – or if you want to make sure your loved ones are not burdened with your funeral debt – write down your preferences ahead of time, starting with whether you prefer to be buried or cremated. It’s also a good idea to list the type of service you prefer (a traditional viewing, a graveside service, or cremation), as well as the place of service (at a church, funeral home, or cemetery).

The cost of pet cremation depends on location, where the cremation is done, and time of cremation. The American Humane Society’s cost for cremation of 22.5 kg (50 lb). or less pet is $110 while 23 kg (51 lb). or more is $145. The cremated remains are available for the owner to pick up in seven to ten business days. Urns for the companion animal range from $50 to $150.[126]

Reputable cremation service providers will openly discuss your options with you. I have heard stories of funeral homes encouraging the purchase of a more expensive cremation container but it is truly up to the purchaser. Knowing your options is the best approach for making informed decisions. Deciding if the body will be present at a service, knowing if the family takes greater comfort having their loved one cremated in a more ornate container, or believing the standard container is sufficient can impact your decision.

As society becomes more aware of the impact of all types of body handling on the environment, new methods that are considered less harmful to the environment are being introduced. Alkaline Hydrolysis, for example, uses a process of water, heat, and lye to treat the remains. While the process is not currently legal in all states, it is gaining traction as an environmentally responsible alternative.

Some funeral homes can actually make matters worse by recommending unnecessary funeral expenses or services that are beyond what a family can afford. Family members can feel pressured to give their loved one the best funeral possible and wind up overspending as a result. Having a trusted friend accompany you in advance can help you stay within your budget.

The staff at the National Cremation and Burial Society Oviedo is actively involved in the community, working closely with local hospice organizations, hospitals, assisted living facilities and nursing homes. They participate in various church affiliations and have maintained a AAA rating with the Better Business Bureau. We are a full service funeral home, providing cremation and burial services, and serve Seminole, Orange, Volusia, Polk, Brevard, Lake, and Osceola counties.

Additional costs associated with cremation can include musicians, pallbearers, food and beverage, programs, notices and other printed material. Funeral homes will have options and costs available for all of these additional services for you to consider. It is recommended that you understand these costs up-front so there aren’t any last minute surprises.

I had the pleasure of working with Sherre Cook for my planning needs. Sherre handled all (and there were many) of my questions and took the time to completely understand my needs before directing my service selection from Neptune Society. I have had a lot of experience with Customer Service and I have to say, especially in light of the nature of this service, she is a true professional and an overall great person to work with.

The idea that cremation might interfere with God’s ability to resurrect the body was refuted as early as the 2nd-century Octavius of Minucius Felix, in which he said: “Every body, whether it is dried up into dust, or is dissolved into moisture, or is compressed into ashes, or is attenuated into smoke, is withdrawn from us, but it is reserved for God in the custody of the elements. Nor, as you believe, do we fear any loss from sepulture, but we adopt the ancient and better custom of burying in the earth.”[85] And while there was a clear preference for burial, there was no general Church law forbidding cremation until 1866. Even in Medieval Europe, cremation was practiced in situations where there were multitudes of corpses simultaneously present, such as after a battle, after a pestilence or famine, and where there was an imminent fear of diseases spreading from the corpses, since individual burials with digging graves would take too long and body decomposition would begin before all the corpses had been interred.

If you or a loved one is a veteran, check with the Veteran’s Administration (VA) regarding burial allowances. The VA reimburses the burial costs of any living spouse, child or parent of an honorably discharged veteran, including costs related to transporting the remains. The cost of a burial plot in a VA-certified cemetery may be much less than a traditional burial plot. Families are usually required to cover additional funeral costs, like flowers, obituary notices, and family transportation.

It is such a difficult time, trying to figure out how to honor a loved one’s wishes just after they have gone.  It’s been a couple of weeks now and I still feel like I’m walking into walls.  But I feel confident that things through the Neptune Society have been handled competently, compassionately, and carefully.  Today I received Mom’s ashes along with the documentation and death certificates.   I can’t thank the staff there enough for helping me through this difficult time.
