Georgia Guidestones

The first human artifact aliens will find rests at the top of the tallest hill in Elbert County, Georgia. It is called by some, the "American Stonehenge." A foreboding monument made from six granite slabs that stretches twenty feet high in the air. Inscribed on each surface are ten guidelines for proper living, including "Unite humanity with a living new language" and "Be not a cancer on the earth." The commandments are translated into eight different languages for visitors from around the world. The biggest mystery to the Georgia Guidestones is, who put them there? They were erected in 1980 at the bequest of an anonymous benefactor, who many believe to be Ted Turner.

Books and other paper goods will all decay into dust after humanity is gone, no matter how well we try to preserve them. They'll be eroded by the singular fury of the elements. So one of the few monuments to the idea that humans worshiped a force larger than themselves will be the crumbling remains of the statue of Christ the Redeemer that stands outside Rio de Janiero. The irony of erecting a monument to the Prince of Peace overlooking one of the most dangerous cities in the world will probably be lost on our visitors, but at least they'll see we knew how to grow bitchin' mustaches.

Costa Rica Spheres

Some of the human artifacts aliens will find are probably going to be as perplexing to the extraterrestrials as they are to us, unless they have some kind of time-vision technology. That would come in handy for unraveling the mystery of the stone spheres of Costa Rica. First discovered in the 1930s by the United Fruit Company, these perfectly-formed stone spheres range from the size of a basketball to one nearly seven feet in diameter that weighs fifteen tons. Nobody knows how they were shaped or what they were used for, and we may never know.

Another human artifact aliens will find of the ancient world, the Nazca lines, located in southern Peru, have baffled anthropologists for decades. Made by clearing away the red topsoil to reveal the bright white rock underneath, they trace massive images of birds, monkeys and other natural forms that can only be properly observed from high in the air. Some theorize that the ancient Peruvians must have invented the hot air balloon to create these works, but no archaeological evidence exists. Whatever their cause, they are extremely impressive.

10,000 Year Clock

Ten thousand years - doesn't seem like so long, does it? But the earliest recorded human civilization is a mere seven thousand years ago. We exist on a very old planet that will be around a very long time after we're gone (assuming we don't blow it up), and the 10,000 Year Clock is designed to commemorate a span of that time. Being constructed in a mountain in western Texas, the clock will run on thermal power for a hundred centuries uninterrupted. That should be plenty of time, all things considered.
