WWE Monday Night Raw 1/2/2012 - The Good, The Bad And The Ugly

Raw is Jericho! It's also awkward Kane promos and a few killer matches... get caught up on last night's Raw!

As is customary for this time of year (the build-up to WrestleMania), Monday Night Raw appears to be firing on all cylinders. This week's show was another good one, with two great matches, crazy R-Truth nonsense, a mercifully short Divas match and of course, the return of the Ayatollah of Rock 'n' Rolla himself. "Where's Brodus Clay?" you ask? "Who gives a shit? Chris Jericho is back." I answer.

To find out more about Jericho's meta-experimentation with the form, Cena's run in with his pyrokinetic therapist and more, keep reading as I run down the good, bad and downright ugly moments from this week's show. Then, make sure to tell us your thoughts in the comments, share the link on Facebook, tweet about the article and of course, come follow me on Twitter. It's now been 36 days since the last time I "accidentally" shared a picture of my balls.

Bad – It Must Really Suck Under That Ring

As fantastic and fascinating as the penultimate Jericho non-promo was, the final segment of Raw was kind of WWE at its inexplicable worst. Nothing outright terrible happened really, but it's a great example of the promotion betting on the wrong horse. Instead of ending the show and using the overrun to push Jericho's return (the obvious choice) or trying to educate the fanbase about how great Punk and Ziggler are (the smart longterm choice), someone in the back decided that what people really want to see is another confrontation between Cena and his pyrokinetic therapist.

Credit where credit is due, the match itself was fine - better than you'd expect for an inexplicably elimination style three-on-two handicap match honestly - but the actual end of the segment and show was senselessly bizarre. Not only did Kane burst out through the ring mat (far too early in his Cena feud for that to happen) and attack Zack Ryder because why-the-balls-not, he even attempted to drag him under the ring, where he presumably likes to immolate himself in towering flames. The Cena/Kane feud, which I initially had a lot of hope for, was already threatening to become convoluted and bizarre after last week's psychotherapy, and now, it's fully gone off a cliff.
