I think we should all just take a moment to appreciate how many different "Shat" and "Psych" puns could be farmed from this bit of news, and the fits of insanity good writers go through in crafting eye-catching headlines.
But my own idiosyncracies aside, good news Psych fans! Every ones to bring out the nerdiest and most retro castings, TV Guide reports that Psych's forthcoming sixth season has enlisted Captain Kirk himself, William Shatner as a guest star! The famed sci-fi actor will play Jules O'Hara (Maggie Lawson)'s estranged con-artist father.
According to TV Guide, Shatner's character attempts to reconcile with his estranged daughter, with a little aid from Sean and Gus, but finds himself drawn into yet another con that jeopardizes his chances of mending fences. Shatner, aside from his critically well-acclaimed (not) work in CBS' $#*! My Dad Says (or however we're spelling that) and his Emmy-winning Boston Legal role, is best remembered as Captain James T. Kirk of the Star Trek franchise, TV and film alike.
Shatner joins the already-impressive roster of guest stars for Psych's upcoming season, which includes brat-packer Molly Ringwald, Battelstar Galactica's Michael Trucco, Danny Glover, and former baseball star Wade Boggs. Ringwald isn't the first Breakfast Club-ber to make their way through Shawn and Gus' world of course, as both Judd Nelson and Ally Sheedy appeared in previous seasons.
Psych's sixth season will premiere this fall on USA, alongside a host of other new series, comedic and dramatic alike.
What say you? Are the Psych boys getting rusty in their pop culture obsessions? Who would you like to see the duo cross paths with? Don't for get to have your dad say some $#*! below!
