15 | Amy and Andrea's Backstory is a Little Fishy |
The Comics: Seeing as we only spent a limited amount of time with Andrea and Amy, we never learned much about their relationships with their father, or pondered the fate of Florida. The survivors generally took to woodland hunting or canned goods for food.
Brought To Life: In addition to the reminiscence of Amy and Andrea's parents, we see (as briefly glimpsed last week) that the survivor's camp overlooks a quarry that provides an additional source of food for the group.
14 | Jim Wasn't A Gravedigging Prophet |
The Comics: Jim kept mostly to himself, having been said to have witnessed his entire family torn apart by zombies. Only in the final attack does the former-mechanic really let loose with his emotions, savagely beating a walker he holds personally responsible.
Brought To Life: AMC's Jim appears to have exceptional precognition, as a dream convinces him to begin recklessly gravedigging, unnerving the others while only after the attack on the camp does he remember what the graves were for.
13 | The Search For Merle Never Happened |
The Comics: Um...nope.
Brought To Life: As we've mentioned before, neither Merle nor Daryl share comic counterparts, and thus the group's mission to rescue rednecks never took place. The second venture into Atlanta originally took place with Glenn and Rick coating themselves in zombie grime to raid a gun store and up the survivor camp's armaments.
12 | It's Too Darn Hot |
The Comics: Shortly after Rick's arrival at the camp, the increasingly cold weather begins to affect the group as Shane continually refuses to move the camp, lest government rescue evade them.
Brought To Life: Perhaps the series spends less time in the camp than the book, but the Atlanta temperature only seems to go up, with bugs chirping and Dale making note of it escalating into the hundreds. We're not entirely familiar with the state's weather patterns, but it's doubtful we'll be seeing snow any time soon.
11 | The Old Gang |
The Comics: The ever-changing roster of survivors have encountered numerous gangs over the course of their journey with various ill-willed intentions, but never this early on, and never this stereotypical.
Brought To Life: Daryl and Glenn find themselves ambushed by Latin gangsters in the effort to retrieve Rick's bag of guns, who kidnap Glenn and bring the group into a Mexican stand-off over the bag.
