True Blood Gets Graphic...Novels

It's all too easy to refer to the sex and violence in HBO's 'True Blood' as "graphic," but this summer, the series gets the graphic novel treatment thanks to IDW Publishing.

The adjective "graphic" has been bled dry (ba-dum-dum) when it comes to HBO's True Blood - after all, how many reviews of the show have described the sex, violence and language using the term? However, as recently announced at this year's Wonder Con, True Blood is about to get graphic in a whole new way - by going from TV to graphic novels thanks to the folks at IDW Pubishing.

"I am very excited to be introducing the True Blood comic book series," stated series creator Alan Ball in a company press release.  "These graphic novels are a great companion to the series and we are pleased that the popularity of the show is allowing it to branch out into different mediums."

IDW will be debuting the first issue of the six-issue miniseries at this year's San Diego Comic Con International, but for those fans who can't make the annual geek-stravaganza, the series will also be made available (and is currently available for pre-order) on HBO.com.
