The Transporter is on the move again, but may be settling into a new home on your TV.
Jason Statham and Luc Besson's iconic action-driving film series has been greenlit for production on the small screen, Deadline reports, negotiating a twelve-episode deal with pay-cable network Cinemax for a new series.
Finally locked down after months of negotiation, The Transporter as a TV series will once again follow professional driver Frank Martin as he operates "in a seedy underworld of dangerous criminals and desperate players, [where] Martin can always be counted on to get the job done — discreetly. He has three rules: Never change the deal, no names and never open the package."
No word yet on whether the TV series will follow continuity from the three films, or if Statham himself will have any involvement.
Executive produced by director Luc Besson and produced by French company Atlantique, Transporter marks the second of Cinemax's attempts to buy into original TV series, as development continues on their ten-part action series Strike Back.
Production will begin this Summer in Europe and Canada, with a reported budget of $48 million.
