The Walking Dead's Best Zombie Kills

We know you long to see the undead put down once and for all in a bloody fashion, so we're here to recap the best kills in The Walking Dead.

I think it's about time we all admitted that the main reason we're watching The Walking Dead isn't for the drama surrounding Rick, Shane or anyone else in this post-apocalyptic world, but instead for the assorted ways they slaughter the shuffling armies of mindless zombies. We care about some of the characters, but no episode is truly complete without a brain being blown out of a walker's head by a bullet or guts grossly slithering out of a decaying body. So far, Seasons 1 and 2 have managed to appease our taste for blood. We've seen bodies blown apart, limbs smashed off, more headshots than we can count and even a few crossbow kills.

Season 2 of The Walking Dead will resume on AMC this Sunday and to celebrate, let's take a look back on our favorite zombie kills so far.

Rock 'Em Sock 'Em Rick

Season 2 kicked off with Rick showcasing his zombie slaying abilities (but he's still no Ash). It's going to take more than two zombies to take down Rick in the woods, especially when he gets his hand on a huge rock. Rick violently bashes in one of their heads and hilariously baseball throws it at the other one's face. It's just too bad he diverted his eyes from Sophia during this bloody victory.

Take That, Resident Evil

Andrea is trapped in the RV and a look-a-like of the first zombie in Resident Evil wants to tear her apart. Thankfully, Dale is always looking out for the blonde and he gives her a screw driver. Andrea unleashes, stabbing the hungry zombie in the eye over and over and over again. If you're going to stab a zombie a bunch of times, make sure you keep your mouth closed. Blood splatters everywhere and it would be embarrassing to be turned that way.

Bloated Kill

The most gruesome kill so far in Season 2, this bloated fellow was finally freed from the well, only to have his hopes and dreams of eating a human torn apart... literally. This heavy-set dude was pulled out of the well, but his body wasn't very flexible. The tubby belly tore in half, with his lower body falling back into the well and littering the ground with his innards. The legless zombie still groaned, so T-Dog bashed his face in.

Daryl's A Boss

Daryl is a bona fide badass. He's got quite a few kills under his belt and his disgusting necklace of zombie ears is proof of that, but my personal favorite is when Daryl tumbles back down the hill and one of his arrows stabs into his side. This would put most people out of commission, but not Daryl. With a zombie quickly approaching, the man painfully removes the arrow from his body, equips it on his weapon, and shoots the zombie right in the head. Daryl's a boss and an essential part of any zombie killing team.

Glenn Owns

Glenn's talents are vastly underrated. The guy has done so much for the group, so it's nice to see he's finally being rewarded by meeting a girl. This season, Glenn proved he's not only quick on his feet, but he's also got what it takes to wield a weapon. During a run in the pharmacy he encountered a zombie that had the nerve to scare his woman. No one messes with Glenn's chick and lives to tell about it. Glenn took his weapon and hit the walker in the head until it was completely unrecognizable.

If for some reason you still don't love Glenn, just remember he dropped a Portal reference.
