Michael Cera returning to the FOX network couldn't possibly mean that the ball is rolling on an Arrested Development movie, could it? Well, probably not. But a man can dream.
On the other hand, the good news is that Entertainment Weekly reports Michael Cera, best known as George Michael Bluth of Arrested Development and the titular Scott Pilgrim will be guest-voicing a character on The Simpsons in the upcoming twenty-third season! According to the report, Cera will voice "Nick," a debonair student who comes to Springfield wooing Lisa in "The Daughter Also Rises."
Interestingly, Cera also portrayed a Nick as the titular character of Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist. Says Simpsons executive producer of Cera's role:
“He starts quoting Hemingway and she says, 'You’re not a product of the Springfield public schools, are you?’ And he goes, 'No, I come to Springfield for the food and the women.’ So he talks a good game. [But] she starts to realize that he’s less than expected.”
Michael Cera as an aloof love interest? Surely you jest. The actor's appearance will take place when The Simpsons picks up for its historic twenty-third season this fall.
What say you? Will Michael Cera bring the same off-beat (if predictable) charm to The Simpsons as he does every movie? Or will Scott Pilgrim lose his last life? Can we expect Arrested Development Jokes? K.O. the comments section below with your thoughts!
