Despite rumors to the contrary, the leaked Mad Men image from this week's Entertainment Weekly puts an end to the talk of Don Draper quiting smoking in the upcoming fourth season. It also does nothing to bolster rumors of a "casual Fridays" policy being instituted at the newly formed Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce. Oh well.
But it does get us excited for Mad Men's fourth season, which is set to premiere on July 25th. Because what is Mad Men if not Don Draper in suit and tie with cigarette?
The standard issue image is paired with an interview with the notoriously tight-lipped showunner Matthew Weiner, who gives some idea of what fans can expect in the wake of last season's shake-up. Says Weiner, “the theme of the season is 'Who am I?’ It’s about stripping away the things that these people think define them. Once they’re taken away, they just may have to look at who they really are.”
Apparently, those things do not include Lucky Strike brand cigarettes.
