Sad news for Stargate fans: Don S. Davis, who played Major General George Hammond on SG-1 and also guest starred as the same character in several episodes of spin-off Atlantis, died on June 29th at the age of sixty-five. Davis had been in ill health for several years, leaving his regular role on SG-1 back in 2003 because of it. He still appeared on the show frequently, however, and can be seen in the upcoming DVD release Stargate: Continuum when it hits the shelves on July 29th. He had a slew of other acting roles to be remembered by (such as Major Garland Briggs on Twin Peaks or Senator Harlan Ellis in The Dead Zone or even as a stunt double on MacGyver), but I will always remember him as Scully's dad on The X-Files.
