Stories that involve angsty teens and werewolves are all the rage right now, and MTV is cashing in on the moment with a new trailer for their darker and more sinister reboot of Teen Wolf, debuting on June 5, 2011.
The series follows high schooler Scott McCall, played by Tyler Posey of Brothers and Sisters, as he struggles through the joys of adolescence. When his friend Stiles (Dylan O'Brien) convinces him to check out a dead body they've found in the woods, Scott has a close encounter of the werewolf kind, and his high school years take a trip to the wild side as he struggles with his new identity.
According to Liz Gateley, MTV Senior VP of series development, the series will, "Combine romance and high school to make 'Teen Wolf' the perfect thriller for MTV."
The original 1985 Teen Wolf film, starring Michael J. Fox, was a comedic take on an impressionable high school kid who inherits werewolf genes from his father. The MTV series promises to focus a bit more towards the horror genre, and with Jeff Davis of Criminal Minds and Marty Adelstein of Prison Break executive producing, it will certaintly be an interesting ride.
