Let's face it, we're never going to see Star Wars on the big screen again (discounting the 3D cash-ins), so TV really is the best medium for future Jedi exploits.
Enter LEGO, who announced at the Licensing International Expo 2011 that they'd be producing a Star Wars TV special based on their wildly popular toy collection and video game series! The special will arrive in fall 2011, and judging by the poster will follow the adventures of LEGO Obi-Wan Kenobi, Anakin and Yoda. Because let's be honest, kids probably have no idea who Luke Skywalker is, anymore.
Not only that, but the expo provided a few details on another Star Wars animated series George Lucas purports to be hard at work on. The series, titled Star Wars: Detours (for now) will "complement 'The Clone Wars', taking 'Star Wars' in a completely new and fun direction." According to Lucas' own words from CNN:
"Now I'm working on television shows. Clone Wars and another show called
Star Wars: Detours and it just gives me the chance to be creative in a
lot different fields, in a lot of different ways and enjoy myself."
IGN also uncovered a bit of news through Den of Geek, on the purported live-action Star Wars TV series that's floated through the media of late, namely that Life on Mars creator and Doctor Who writer Matthew Graham may have written for the supposed fifty hours of third-draft scripts. Sworn to secrecy, Graham would only reveal in interview that he had worked on something "unbelievably cool" at Lucasfilm from 2008-2009, and he "hope[s] one day I'll be able to talk about it."
