Well, you can hardly blame CBS for wanting to wring some good news out of the day, considering the media circus erupting from Charlie Sheen's being officially fired and leaving the fate of Two and a Half Men unclear.
So let's focus on the positive! Marshall, Lily, Ted, Barney and Robin will continue to warm our hearts well into 2013 with the news that CBS has officially picked up How I Met Your Mother for an additional two seasons. CBS Entertainment President Nina Tassler says of the news:
"We are so proud of this show and all of its creative and ratings achievements. How I Met Your Mother's brilliant production team continues to find inventive ways to tell funny stories that stir pop culture conversation; it has become a go-to destination for top guest stars and its amazing ensemble cast brings to life characters that audiences want to hang out with every Monday night."
The 2005 series could potentially continue beyond the 2013 order, though the casts' contracts currently only extend through the eight seasons. Neil Patrick Harris, ever the optimistic public figure tweeted his elation on the renewal:
What a guy.
Of course, with the series running for another two years at least, we can safely expect a continued history of difficult-to-resolve clues and false-starts for, you know...actually introducing the mother.
What say you?! Are you ready to suit up for another two seasons?! Grab a beer, and sing your song below!
