In our recent interview with Gene Simmons, we got to ask him about his upcoming role on ABC's Castle. When asked how this role came about he responded, "I’m a lucky guy, you know? They picked up the phone and they called. It’s as simple as that, it’s easier to get to me than most knuckleheads who do this for a living because outside of the KISS thing I don’t use mangers or agents. Yeah, you want me? You say. I’m going to go 'yes’ or 'no.’"
Why did he choose to go on Castle as opposed to another show? He's actually a fan, he goes on to say, "I’ve actually been a fan of Castle, I think it’s very clever, one of the better written shows on television, the only one of its kind on television...They had me in as myself, and I will tell you it was an awful lot of fun being myself."
As you may have guessed, Gene will be appearing as himself helping out the cast of Castle in one way or another. When asked whether he could return to the show again at some point in the future he said, "Well if they’re smart, and they want to raise the amount people who watch the show, that’s what they’ll do."
Finally, we got to ask Gene if he'd ever consider regularly appearing on a scripted show to which he responded with: "Sure! Sure, I’d love to do a scripted show. The two considerations are that it is well written and well directed, because in the wrong hands even a good idea can end up being...you know—The other is that it has to be a decent payday, because, in essence, by taking time off to do a TV series, I’d be paying for the privilege, if you see what I mean, of being on TV. KISS makes me a living and the other stuff does as well. I’m not the one who created it, but it’s true: 'Time is money,’ and I’ve got a lot of stuff."
